No. 8

A 19th century two-bed terraced cottage in the historic market town of Otley.

No. 8 was our first home, and first renovation project. We completed on the purchase in August 2018, naively believing that we had purchased a property that would need a simple lick of paint to bring it up to scratch; how wrong we were! Our first night in the house, we sat on the stained brown carpet (we had no furniture) in the lounge and I cried at the mistake I felt we had made. Two and a half years later, we sold the house, having completely transformed it and more importantly having found a real love and passion for historic properties and for DIY. This house was our first experience of renovation, and whilst the scale was nothing compared with the enormity of what we have taken on at the Farm, it was where we learnt the foundations of our practical skills, and developed the confidence to take on bigger renovations.
